About Dr. Homad

Dr. AbdulWahab Homad (1915-2002)

Dr. AbdulWahab Homad (1915-2002) is the biography of Dr. Homad that Dr. Mahmoud Ahmad al-Sayyed wrote for the Arabic Language Academy in Damascus, in its series on members of the Academy who have died. Its four chapters follow his life from Aleppo and Paris to the university, parliament and seven ministerial posts; review his law books, his Paris memoirs and his public lectures; present a selection of his poems, most of them written in prison or far from home; and set out his views on teaching, the Arabic language, Arab unity and religion. An appendix gathers the addresses given at his memorial at the al-Assad National Library in March 2002. With a foreword by Dr. Mazen al-Mubarak.

Published by the Arabic Language Academy in Damascus, first edition, 1434 AH / 2013. The full text appears here chapter by chapter, in the original Arabic and in English translation. The family thanks Dr. Mahmoud Ahmad al-Sayyed, who gathered this record of Dr. Homad's life out of loyalty and affection.
